Leather Luggage

Leather luggage comes in two main materials: genuine leather and PU leather. Beyond the cost difference, the gap in appearance, texture, and touch between luggage made from these materials is substantial. Genuine leather is typically used for high-end brands, offering a soft feel and strong real leather texture, with a natural animal skin pattern that provides good resistance to wrinkling. In contrast, PU leather is more affordable, with a harder texture than genuine leather. Its manufacturing process allows for a variety of colors and unique shapes, making it ideal for lightweight travel cases. Both materials are used for soft-side luggage.

Due to the material properties of leather, it doesn’t offer great compressive strength, so it’s generally used for producing light to medium-sized travel carry-on cases, handbags, business briefcases, and similar products. Leather luggage, whether large or small, requires the addition of a metal frame inside to enhance its load-bearing capacity. Unlike luggage made from metal or plastic, the production process and craftsmanship of leather luggage cases are predominantly manual, featuring zippers as the primary means of opening and closing, similar to most other types of luggage.
