Metal suitcase broadly refers to suitcases made from various metals through die casting or thermal forming processes, such as aluminum cases, aluminum-magnesium alloy cases, titanium alloy cases, and stainless steel suitcases. It also includes briefcases and travel cases made from a mix of different types of metal sheets. The most common type of metal luggage on the market is undoubtedly the all-aluminum suitcase.

Travel luggage cases made from aluminum are characterized by their lightweight and ability to be pressed into various shapes through molds to meet fashion demands. Aluminum-magnesium alloy cases are significantly harder than pure aluminum cases, meaning that forming aluminum-magnesium alloy is more challenging than pure aluminum. Titanium alloy, while being the lightest, is also the hardest, making it less suitable for creating complex-shaped travel cases and much more expensive than other metal materials.

From a manufacturing perspective, the process requirements for forming metal luggage vary significantly by material. For titanium alloy, achieving a complex and aesthetically pleasing shape requires heating followed by mold shaping. In contrast, softer metals like aluminum can be directly die-cast under pressure to extrude unique shapes, indicating a vast difference in the production costs of luggage made from different metal materials.
